Colleagues take part in Memory Walk for World Alzheimer’s Month

Memory Walk

It's World Alzheimer's Month during September and we're raising money for and awareness of the Alzheimer's Society.

Globally, dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide.

At GreenSquareAccord we provide personalised dementia care and support across a broad spectrum of needs from pre-diagnosis to end-of-life care, and it's so important to us that we continue to raise awareness.

A team of Care and Support colleagues and customers from our dementia care and support services will be taking to the streets on Tuesday 13 and Sunday 18 September in a memory walk to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society.

Colleagues and customers from our Farcroft, Bowbrook, Bennett House, Amber Wood and Silver Birches services will be taking part in the walk.

Our Head of Residential and Nursing Care Michelle Barker says: “It’s so important that we help to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and help to highlight the importance of support for people living with dementia and their carers.

“Taking part in the memory walk is a way for us to do our bit to increase awareness in the local communities and also to raise some much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

“We’re hoping to have a good turnout at both of our walks, including some of our customers joining in too.

“Please show your support by making a donation to our amazing team and why not send them some words of encouragement too. Every pound we raise helps fund new research and provide vital support for families affected by dementia.”

The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. It’s the only UK charity that funds research, campaigns for change and supports people living with dementia.
