Sun shines for Summer Fun Day at Amber Wood

Amber Wood Fun Day

The sun came out on Thursday August 17 as our colleagues and customers at Amber Wood, one of our dementia specialist care providers, enjoyed a Summer Fun Day.

At the fun day, there were a wide variety of activities available such as tug-of-war, a tombola, bric-a-brac stalls and plenty of cake.

At the event a raffle was also held, at the competitive rate of £1 per strip of tickets, with fabulous prizes available. The raffle prizes were donated by colleagues, customers’ family members and local businesses and included:

  • A 30minute flying experience in a two-person aircraft
  • A £50 shopping voucher
  • A laser hair removal treatment worth £50
  • An afternoon tea with prosecco
  • A hamper of home-grown vegetables

Scooby Doo, Elmo and Marshall from Paw Patrol also took some time out of their busy schedules to support the Summer Fun Day and enjoy the activities on offer.

The event was organised by colleagues at Amber Wood to raise money for the scheme’s Comfort Fund which supports social activities for our customers. A total of £478.40 was raised for the Comfort Fund.

Michelle Barker our Head of Residential Care Services said “A big well done to Amanda and all our colleagues at Amber Wood. It was lovely to see everyone having such a good time in the sunshine and pulling together to raise an impressive sum of money.”

Amber Wood provides a range of specialist dementia care and support services to people with a range of needs, including older adults (over 55 years), people with dementia and associated mental health conditions, older adults with physical disabilities and people with hearing or eyesight difficulties (or both).
