LoCaL Homes named in £600m Building Better alliance deal

A birds-eye view of construction of a new housing development

LoCaL Homes has been named as one of six manufacturers chosen to supply 2D panelised systems to be assembled on-site, in a new £600m deal with an alliance of housing associations and councils.

The deal has been arranged by the National Housing Federation-backed Building Better alliance of 29 housing associations and local authorities that manage over 215,000 homes across the UK.

The manufacturers chosen to take part in the new deal are LoCaL Homes, Future Built, Project Etopia, Roe Timberframe, Sigmat and Starship Homes. The alliance predicts around £600m of work will be shared around the selected firms over the next four years.

The deal to supply 2D systems will run in parallel with Building Better’s first modern methods of construction framework which was launched last July and covers category 1 volumetric 3D systems.

Chris Hagan, Director of LoCaL Homes said: “I’m delighted that LoCaL Homes have been chosen as one of the partners in the Building Better Alliance deal. This framework will expand on our current partnership work with other providers in the framework and develop and grow new relationships. We look forward to making a real difference through the delivery of low carbon, cost effective, sustainable housing solutions which support the future homes standard and the drive towards net zero.”

With the launch of its dynamic purchasing system (DPS), Building Better aims to help the social housing sector to produce around 5,000 modern methods of construction (MMC) properties by 2026.
