Paul Edwards, site manager at our Chalk Wood development in Gloucester, has won a duo of prestigious awards.
Paul was awarded the Site Manager of the Year 2022 for Central and West Region at the Building Safety Group (BSG) Health and Safety Awards which recognise the dedication of site managers to health and safety in construction.
Paul also won a prestigious National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award for his efforts on the Chalk Wood development. From more than 8,000 site managers, Paul was one of 443 who have been honoured with a Quality Award. Pride in the Job is often referred to as the Oscars of the house-building industry. The awards celebrate the vital role that site managers play in ensuring new homes are constructed on time, on safe sites and to the highest quality standards.
Paul, who has worked at GreenSquare Homes - our house building section of GreenSquareAccord, for six years and has been Site Manager at the Chalk Wood site since the project started in January 2021, said:
“I am proud to have won the health and safety regional award. I was recognised for the health and safety implementation on the Chalk Wood site being consistent and for being proactive when any issues arose. I was put forward for the award by the BSG inspector.
“I was also really proud to have won the NHBC Quality Award for the second time in four years. Which may set us up for a seal award, which we will find out at the awards presentation later this year.
“I would like to thank my assistant manager Geno Cosentino - although he has only been with us at GreenSquare Homes for a short time, he has hugely improved achieving the high quality we push for, so the customer is proud of the property with minimal or no defects. I’d also like to thank all the contractors involved with the development from start to finish.”
Paul will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional NHBC Awards in the autumn, with the national Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2023. Good luck Paul!
Chalk Wood is an exclusive collection of 31 new homes in the village of Chalford Hill, Gloucestershire. 15 of these homes are private sale, 5 are shared ownership and 11 are affordable rent. The site is due to be completed in August/September. The surplus produced from sales of these homes is reinvested into providing affordable homes in our GreenSquareAccord operating areas.
