Working in partnership with Jessup and Bournville Village Trust, we will be providing 74 new affordable homes in Lightmoor Garden Village, Telford.

The new homes, located in The Croppings phase 2 section of the larger Lightmoor Garden Village development, will meet a variety of local housing need with 45 reserved for affordable rent and a further 29 available under a shared ownership scheme.

Mike Nolan, our Head of Development said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership to deliver affordable homes in this latest development phase of the highly sought-after Lightmoor Garden Village.

“We’re helping first time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder and families in need of affordable homes to rent.

“We will form a housing co-operative for our new customers in partnership with Bournville Village Trust.”

Run by their members, housing co-operatives allow residents to self-manage their homes in a democratic way, helping to create thriving new communities.

Councillor Richard Overton (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for homes and enforcement commented:

“Housing is one of our key priorities in Telford and Wrekin as we set to protect, care and invest to create a better borough for all of our residents. As a council we want to ensure local people have opportunities and choices over where they live, in homes that are of good quality and affordable. New developments like Lightmoor Garden Village are a key part of this and it’s great to see this project come to life.”

All the shared ownership properties at Lightmoor The Croppings phase 2 feature attractive, fitted kitchens and bathrooms along with turf to the garden as standard. Prices start at £55,000 for a 25% share or £88,000 for a 40% share and homes are available in 2-, 3- & 4-bedroom designs. The first homes will be ready in August 2023.

Rodger Shipway, our Sales and Marketing Director said “We’re thrilled to offer 29 new homes that are available for shared ownership where you part own your home. You can buy more shares under a process called staircasing until you own the home outright. This is a fantastic alternative to private rent and a great gateway to owning your own home.

“Built to high environmental standards, properties have the added benefit of B standard energy ratings and lower running costs than a traditional home.”

Incoming residents to The Croppings phase 2, will be able to enjoy all that Lightmoor Garden Village has to offer with a primary school, nursery and retail units on their doorstep.

More than half of the area of the Village is made up of open spaces while being four miles from the amenities of Telford Town Centre which is a destination for shopping and boasts an award-winning leisure park.

Mike Doolan, Sales & Partnerships Manager at LoCaL Homes added: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Jessups to deliver 74 new, high-quality homes for the community of Telford.

“With the use of offsite manufacturing, each home will be constructed from our low carbon open timber frame panel, the Eco 100. Each panel is filled with environmentally friendly, fire resistant mineral wool insulation before being completed with traditional brickwork and render; providing greater energy efficiency performance when compared to traditional builds.”

Once housebuilding is complete, Lightmoor Garden Village will feature 1,000 homes and it has been developed through a joint venture between Bournville Village Trust and Homes England.

There are a number of shop units located at the centre of the village and there is a flourishing school and community centre and an orchard, where a tree is planted for every new baby born.
