WV Living visit LoCaL Homes Factory

WV Living

Darren Baggs, Board Director at WV Living visited our LoCaL Homes factory this week to see the progress made so far on the first phase of their Hampton Park development.

LoCaL Homes is manufacturing the Eco-200 timber frame panel solution in its Walsall-based factory. It will enable the new homes to achieve higher levels of insulation and thermal efficiency to help the new residents experience lower cost energy bills.

The development, which is under construction by GSA on the former site of Northicote School on Northwood Park Road, is named after previous headteacher Sir Geoff Hampton.

During the construction period, the partnership between LoCaL Homes, GSA and WV Living will deliver a total of 178 two, three and four bedroom homes, 45 of which will be for either affordable rent or shared ownership purchase, with the remaining 133 for open market sale.

Mike Doolan, Sales and Partnerships Manager at LoCaL Homes said: “We were delighted to host this visit at our factory and showcase the manufacturing processes of our closed timber frame panels, complete with external cladding finishes, for the Hampton Park development.

“The off-site manufacture of our Eco-200 panels means that the new homes can be built cleaner, quicker, and with less waste compared to other traditional brick-built approaches. By building the panels this way we significantly reduce carbon emissions and once built they will also have greater thermal performance, making every part of this new development more environmentally sustainable.”

Darren Baggs, Board Director at WV Living said: “It was great to visit the LoCaL Homes factory and witness this hugely significant part of the build come to life before being delivered to the site and constructed.

“The sustainable homes that are being built at Hampton Park are an excellent example of how off-site manufacturing can help reduce the carbon footprint of new homes and bring better value for local people through greater energy efficiency.

“Our partnership with GreenSquareAccord and LoCaL Homes is helping us deliver the first phase of homes within the space of months, which offers an incredible turnaround for people in need of housing in the area.”
